The Partnership is a nonprofit organization that provides services, advocates and collaborates with others to insure the wellbeing of children, ages birth to five, so they can reach their health, developmental, and educational potential. We support local families and children through Smart Start, North Carolina's award-winning early childhood initiative.

    What is Reach Out and Read?

    Reach Out and Read prepares Cabarrus County's youngest children for success in school by partnering with doctors who will prescribe books and encourage families to read together.

    Smart Start was created in 1993 as a solution to a problem: children were coming to school unprepared to learn. It is a network of 76 nonprofit local partnerships led by The North Carolina Partnership for Children.

    Child Care WAGE$ provides incentives to early childhood professionals to increase teacher education levels and decrease turnover. This service helps increase compensation, retention and education.

    Accepting Smart Start Proposals

    Smart Start agencies in Alexander, Avery, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Chatham, Cleveland, Iredell, Lincoln-Gaston, Mitchell-Yancey, Montgomery, Rutherford-Polk-McDowell, Union and Watauga Counties are seeking proposals from account firms to provide accounting services for the fourteen county region for the period July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2020.
